Poll: Holidays
Everything seems to be working fine; leave it as is.
No favorites--take out any holidays that have to do with religious beliefs.
Depending on school population, certain holidays should be added to the calendar.
Be fair--add all major religious holidays to the calendar.
Who cares--More holidays would be great!



Cross Country Off to an Impressive start

The girls cross country team is off to a quick-paced route to sucess with two wins against Naguatuck and Kennedy under their belt. 

This past Tuesday Woodland competed at the new 2.5 mile course at Hop Brook Park in Naugatuck.  Rosa Moriello from Naugatuck took first place with an astounding time of 18:23. 2nd place was Woodland's top female runner; returning sophomore, Brittany Albright coming in only ten seconds behind Moriello at 18:33.  Sophomore Sara Melville and junior Megan Burke took 3rd and 4th place in the meet.  Senior, Kaitlyn Murhpy only a second behind Burke, came in 5th. 

Giving the girls team more depth, their 5th runner-coming in at 7th place overall-was newly improved junior, Hannah Wojcik.  Senior Captain, Mikelyn Messina and junior Shannon Freeman ensured the win finishing in the 11th and 12th spot. 

The Woodland Boys Cross Country also had a win against Kennedy and lost  against Nauguatuck's leading runners. 

Woodland's top male runner, sophomore Tyler Murhpy came in at 3rd place overall on the boys course of 2.9 miles with a time of 18 minutes 24 seconds. Not only was Murphy Woodland's first runner in, but he came in before any Kennedy runners giving him his first win of the season.  Coming in at 6th overall as Woodlands 2nd runner was junior, Chris Wright with a time of 19:36. 

The Mariotti brothers, freshman Ryan and Junior Captain, Chris came in as Woodland's 3rd and 4th runner at 8th and 11th place overall.  Other top Woodland finishers were Junior, Kyle Menta at 14th, Sophomore John Plaskon at 16th, and freshman Mike Krakowski and Craig Genz at 18th and 21st. 

Both teams will be competing this Saturday at Wilton Invitational along with more N.V.L. meets to come during the week.
