The Phillies-Dodgers matchup is going to be a very good matchup. The Phillies are the National League East champions, again beating the Mets in the last ticks of the season. The Dodgers, who acquired Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez during mid-season came out confident with their new member and came back in the National League West to take a sure division title.
Last year both teams didn’t even make the playoffs, now the Dodgers swept the Cubs, and the Phillies beat the young Brewer’s club in 4 games. This series should be a great match-up.
Both teams have power and skill. The focus point that I think people should look forward to seeing is how each team plays at their home crowd. Now, the Phillies have home-field advantage (which means that out of the 7 games series the Phillies have 4 of those games at home, and the Dodgers only have 3) so they should have an easier stretch.
The consistency of the Dodgers ability to win and win big is going to help them a lot. Like in the divisional playoffs against the best team in the National League, the Cubs (who unfortunately haven’t won a World Series in over 1oo years, no thanks to the Dodgers). Some good points on the Dodgers are that even thou gh the y have only 3 games in their home stadium I believe with that explosive offense with Manny Ramirez will get the job done. Also with the fiery arm of Derek Lowe, on their shoulders should be a good reason why they might pull it off.
Now to the Philadelphia Phillies; the Phillies are in great shape too. They won the division in the last two weeks before the season ended; they beat the Brewers in four games, and they have home-field advantage, which will come in handy. The Phillies also have a great line-up including super slugger Ryan Howard, power shortstop Jimmy Rollins, and second baseman Chase Utley. All three of those men have been putting up fantastic numbers and they have carried this team to where it is today.
This game one of the series is going to be a back-and-forth game of high powered offenses and great defenses. Who will on Thursday October 9 at 8:00 p.m., for game one of the National League Championship series?
